woke up fairly early in the hotel.
watched most of an episode of law and order. they painted themselves into a corner and then used a deus ex machina to solve the problem. started packing. showered.
watched a second law and order while moving stuff to the car. also ended up with tha d e m situation. odd.

slow going on the way back. stopped a lot. also bogged down with traffic.

i was up and doing fairly early. didn't want to get ready too early. nothing worse than sitting around in you dressy clothes an hour too early.
went down at about 8:30 for breakfast. very crowded. art, susan, susan's dad already down. claire apparently had also already eaten. i had to do cocktail party eating in the beginning. then a table opened.
ended up having breakfast with a fairly large group.
went up to shower and dress around 9:45. elizabeth called when i was in the shower. she was at a cvs near the funeral parlor. she came back to the hotel. we drove over in a few cars around 12:30.

the dava did their forget me not ceremony. i found it odd but many liked it. the priest was late so mark said his eulogy first. he did a very nice job. got very emotional and had to stop. i think he got most of the church going. definitely heart felt.
the priest was late which threw things off. karen, claire and i did readings during the ceremony. it was fairly short. dave, matthew, julio, jesus, scott, glenn, and i were pall bearers.
kay and rose were at the funeral. had not seen them in years!
grave side ceremony was short. it seemed rather cold sitting under the tent.
we went to the dav after the ceremony for lunch.

the really decorated the place nicely and clearly put some effort into the food. said many good byes at the end of the lunch.
elizabeth went back home. i went back to the room and took a nap.

didn't sleep really well. woke up at around 6:00 and then again when my phone alarm went off. came down for breakfast around 7:30.

found a best buy and got some head phones.
found a walgreens and got more cold meds.
went by mommy's old house. the apartments on deloice are all boarded up. odd to drive by the house and know that someone other than mommy is living there.
stopped at panera on the way back. coffee, and a cinnamon roll.
just heard that glenn and susan were rear-ended again today. unbelievable.

we went over to the funeral home as a group at around 5:30. some folks were already there when we arrived. mark and stephanie were held up in traffic and did not get to bill's house until late on friday. glenn and susan and group did arrive for the viewing. art also came.
claire did a great job with the arrangements and karen had picked out some pictures of mommy to display around the viewing area.
the mortician did a good job. i'm not a big fan on viewing people. there's something about it that makes me uncomfortable. i know a lot of people do need to see the person, though.
a lot of people came out. it was nice to see ken turner and a number of others. the dav folks really do come out for their old friends. i'm sure mommy would be pleased.
we stayed until a little after 7:00. eveyone split up at that time.
karen, claire, leslie, lilly and i went to dinner at cheese burger in paradise. never been there, then twice in one day.

stopped at the aunt sarahs exit and went to dennys. ervice was not forthcoming so i went on down the road. stopped at a mcdonalds off of 64 for lunch.

reception clerk lied to me about the bereavement rate when i checked in.
