Candace is coming to visit for Christmas. Her flight lands at BWI at 1:10. It is supposed to take about 90 min to get to BWI so we decided to leave 2 hrs early. We left at 11:10.

in the car on the way. For some reason it did not occur to us that taking 66 to 495 to 95 to 195 two days before Christmas might mean running into Christmas traffic. I guess the idea that we were just going to the airport would put us in a parallel dimension where the traffic would just be normal. Apparently the parallel dimension did not kick in. It took us nearly 3 hours to get to BWI.

at Bill Bateman's Restaurant in the terminal at BWI. Good burger. so so fries. bad tea. Why do so many places have bad tea?

The traffic on the way back wasn't quite as bad as on the way down but I was getting very tired. I had expected to drive about 4-5 hours and drove over 6:00. When we got to 66 the traffic report was that it was running extremely slow so we went down 50 in Fairfax and stopped at Panera for dinner.

The peppers on the combo were much hotter than usual. Burned my face off. The mac and cheese was pretty tasty. We all shared an order. We all thought it was good but overpriced at about $5 for a small order.

Elizabeth drove after Panera. We finally got home at about 8:00. I don't remember much after that.
