i woke up at 6:15 and realized i had not checked the water the night before. ran down to the basement and got there with 10-15 minutes to spare.
breakfast
egga and bologna sandwich
half an orange
coffee iced tea
we decided to go see the begonias and the orchids at the botanical gardens.
lunch
grilled chicken sandwich
shared large fries
iced tea
at McDonalds in Gainesville.
we got down to the mall at about 2:00. got out at Smithsonian. we should have gotten out at Federal Center. we went into the castle to go to the bathroom and get a snack.
snack
caffe mocha
shared slice of cheese cake
pretty good drink. ok cheese cake.
by the time we got to the b.g. my knee was very sore. i sat on a bench for about 30-40 min while e began her tour. i really liked the way they displayed the orchids this time. we've probably gone down to see the orchids 4-6 times in feb. or mar. i think this show showed them to best effect. nice job. the begonias were a little disappointing. however they did have a really knock out azalea near the begonias. great color and gobs and gobs of flowers. i really like azaleas and rhododendrons. camelias too. used to have great camelias on the grounds of W&M.
when we got back to Vienna we decided to eat dinner at an old favorite haunt from our Fairfax City days. the Pan Am family restaurant. we realized that we first ate there in oct. of 1990 and some of the same people are still waiting tables and cooking.
dinner
gyro sandwich
onion rings
cole slaw
iced tea
good gyro and rings, poor slaw. Pan Am always has really refreshing iced tea. it is absolutely amazing how much food they give you.
i did not feel well when we got home. fell asleep on the sofa. i woke up when SNL was starting. i watched parts. Jenny from the Hood was the host. She was better than expected. Jenny from the Hood was the musical guest. She was about as expected. two snoozers. bill hader really cracks me up.
