karen's birthday!
woke up early this morning. jumped in the shower right away. cut myself shaving, of course. got blood on the first two shirts i put on. oh well.

left the house before 7:00. arrived at the vre at about 7:10. caught the train in plenty of time. read lovejoy on the way.
train stopped about a mile from the alexandria station. signalling computer had crashed. we sat for about 20 minutes which put me behind for getting to the new office at 9:00.
called the hr guy from the train to let him know i'd be a little late. arrived at 9:20 to find that the hr guy had not arrived. called for jerry and he gave me the tour and the overview for a few hours.
hr guy never became available. i met about 10 or 12 people today.
had a conference. got set up on email. i'm the guinea pig on windows 7 at the office. it seems to work pretty well.

left the office around 5:10. got to the metro only to find that the trains heading to virginia were totally stopped. rode the train to l'enfant to catch the vre there. that put me about an hour behind.

did some chores in the evening. watched about half of sense and sensibility. very tired. going to bed.
