written on 16 february at the residence inn in newport news

slept in a little on friday since i had the day off. got up around 7:00 and realized how much i had to do before i could go to n.n. oh boy.

breakfast

cereal
banana
oj
iced tea

cleaned the kitchen, did two loads of laundry, balanced the checkbook, paid bills, and packed. took forever. didn't get out of the house until about 2:00. deposited money at the bank. got cash for the trip.

dr. pepper

from the chick-fil-a in warrenton. pretty good.

luckily traffic was not bad on the way down. i made very good time. stopped at the rest area on 64 to use the bathroom. shortly after i realized i was very low on gas. stopped to get gas. the sign said 3.99, but the pump said 3.69. i actually paid 3.69. odd.

listened to a good chunk of tai-pan on the way down.

arrived at the hotel at about 6:15. checked in and went up to mommy's room. Karen, Mommy, Glenn, Susan, and Bert were there. I think Bert is younger than I think she is.

M, G, S, and B went to dinner. Karen's friend, Kerry(?), came over and they went to dinner.

i went to dinner with cleve "skip" dye from my high school class and his wife kelly. i didn't really know cleve that well in school but we've reconnected on facebook. very nice couple. they really seem "mfeo" to quote sleepless in seattle.

we went to rick's cheese steak which is on the location that used to be sammy's steak den. talk about a blast from the past.

quite good. a huge amount of food.

i got a call from glenn during dinner. missed it and thought i'd call back later. then i got a text from susan about 30 minutes later. they had been in a car accident! rear-ended on jefferson. susan was getting x-rays. mommy and glenn were ok.

cleve and kelly dropped me back at the hotel. and i went over to the hospital. brought mommy back.

we stopped at the walmart to try to get a walker. most horrible store i've ever been in. it was supposedly closed but they kept letting people in. clearly the staff was totally bugged about the late closing!

then back out to get glenn and susan and go to the drug store. got home about 12:30. tired.
