nice weather again today. threat of thunderstorms in the evening and the temp is supposed to drop by 20 degrees or so between friday and saturday but today has been beautiful.

breakfast

cereal w/ milk
banana
oj
coffee
iced tea

elizabeth was on track to catch the vre today so she drove over by herself. usually the parking lot is bulging on monday and relatively empty on friday. the difference between a full lot and an empty lot is about 5-7 minutes so whether you catch the train can depend on where you park.

they actually improved piper lane around the vre station recently to allow for a bit more parking. it helps. now if they could just improve the shoulders on the service road and put in lighting ...

i watched the end of kingdom of heaven during breakfast. the 2nd half is a significantly better movie. well structured. beautifully filmed. fine acting. amazing customs and battle scenes. the seige engines themselves are among the coolest i've ever seen in a movie. the second half on its own is an A or A-. The overall movie probably a solid B because it is a bit of chore to get through the first half. i can only guess that the director's cut is way better than the cut that was released in theaters.

snack

salt & vinegar chips
iced tea

lunch

salami and cheese sandwich (2)
pickle spears (2)
iced tea

found out that karma, often called sugar cat, is, in fact, a sugar cat. she has diabetes. have to go to the vet next week and learn how to give insulin shots. perhaps the most fun i can conceive of. (ok, of which I can conceive. so how badly proper word order can suck.)

the whole insulin thing had me kind of freaked out so i decided to just take a drive. ended up going to the grocery store to get a few things we need. then i went to the dunkin' donuts that just opened near wegmans.

snack

jelly donut
cappucino

donut was good. coffee was so so. i had a good cappu at the same store the week it opened. what can you do.

when we first moved to fauquier i was astonied* that there were no donut shops or bagel shops. no DD, no Einstein, no KK, no Manhattan, nothin. you could get fresh donuts and fresh bagels at grocery stores but you couldn't get a hot, toasted bagel w/ a schmear and a cuppa. astonied i was. this DD is the first one between manassas and warrenton. still no true bagel shop.

most of my made up english is only partly made up, by the way.

dinner

veg burgers (2)
chips
iced tea

boca burgers. i've actually come to like them. go figure.

we were watching ground hog day on the weather channel because we couldn't find anything else. i always like that movie but they were running a crawl about severe storm warnings that got a bit too annoying. going to be early.

* astonied. past participle of ME astonien. to amaze. to astonish.
