took a nap in the afternoon. thought i'd sleep for an hour or so. elizabeth woke me up at 5:00 when we were supposed to be leaving for christmas dinner. we actually left at 5:25 to go to reston. arrived about 6:15 at sue's house. met sue, her son, Jim (or Jamie), Jim's friend Mike, and Mike's mom. Mike's mom was very old and frail.
chatted for a while. all seemed to be nice folks. jamie is retiring and moving to panama. wow. mike is thinking of retiring to some property he owns in canada.

all quite good. we left reston at about 9:15. got home around 10:00. went to sleep soon after.
