26 may 2010

woke up just before the alarm today. actually pretty good timing.

slept with the fan in the window the last few days. it got way too cold each night. on Monday i just pulled on a blanket. last night i took the fan out of the window when it got really cold and that seemed to moderate the temp nicely. you tend to have so few days when you can sleep with the fan in the window that i like to do it when i can.

in the core of the summer it's simply too hot. in the spring and much of the fall it just tends to get too cold overnight. we were getting into the 30s overnight in early May.

when we lived on Ft. Eustis we didn't have AC. we used to have all of the doors open and fans in every room. i remember i slept in the lower bunk and Mark slept in the top bunk. i remember the sound of the fans and the moonlight coming through the windows. a very summery feeling.

breakfast

bagel w/ butter
banana
oj
coffee
iced tea

really good this morning. must have been just what i wanted.

watched the 2nd half of FF. i had seen the movie before and really didn't like it but i wanted to see the first movie after seeing the Silver Surfer movie. the first FF movie isn't really so much a bad movie as a badly constructed movie. it tries to tell two origin stories in parallel (the FF, Dr. Doom)and doesn't manage to do a good job in either case. oddly enought the movie may be more true to the sensibility of the comic book than many of the other Marvel movies. anyway i gave the movie something like a D the first time i saw it. on watching it with more patience I give it about a C. can't really fault any of the performances. all of the main characters are solid.

cut the grass before lunch. thank goodness. if i had waited it would have been way too hot.

lunch

salami and cheese sandwich
pickles (2 spears)
banana
coke

huge headache after cutting grass. aspirin is not helping.

dinner

chicken salad sub (ft. long)
iced tea

from Subway. not bad chicken salad but like in many places, way too sweet!

Foyle's War: Eagle Day. B.
