staying at my mom's house in Newport News. My mom has lived in this house since Feb. 12, 1972. She was born on Feb. 19, 1932 so she would turn 40 one wk after moving in. she will be 80 in 2012. At this point she lived 40 years at other addresses and 38 yrs in her current apartment. kind of amazing.
i lived in this house from 1972 to August of 1977 and then about 4 mos a yr from 1977 to November of 1981. i estimate that i lived in the house for 8 yrs. I've had 10 addresses since i lived in NN.

we ate breakfast around 9. weren't planning to have dinner until 4 but didn't really want a full lunch.

Scott, Mary, and Amanda arrived at around 2:15. i didn't realize they were coming so it was a nice surprise.
Glenn and Susan arrived around 3:15.
We went to the Outback at 4:00 and were seated immediately.

salad w/ blue cheese
sirloin steak (9 oz)
baked tater (butter, sour cream)
iced tea
pretty good. we had a good waitress and everyone seemed to enjoy the meal and the company.
we stopped by Daddy's grave just to see hello. we sat in the living room chatting for some time with no TV. i can't remember the last time i've been in that house when the tv was not on!
the incident of Melvyn Douglas arose.

everybody left around 8:30. mommy had gotten It's complicated as a Mother's Day present. i watched the first hour with her and then fell asleep. i woke up when the credits were rolling. we stayed up to watch Betty White on SNL. it was a funny show. nice to see so many of the female veterans of the show coming back for this one.
