woke up at 4 in the am and felt wide awake. checked my email and facebook etc. sleepy enough after that to go back to sleep. slept until about 5:30.

watched part of france v. mexico. missed the first mexico score but saw the 2nd. mexico should advance to the round of 16. looks like france will go home early. greece beat nigeria in the other match.
we went to the library at around 4:00. summer hrs have commenced. they close at 5:00 on thursday. checked out down and out in paris and london again.

weather was just amazing today. really ideal. warm, low humidity, touch of a breeze, lots of sun.
we watched the last episode of wodehouse playhouse on the dvd. strangely enough the episodes remind me of love american style. mostly, i guess, because the structure of the stories is very traditional. the flavor comes in the language and the oddity of the situations.
we also watched the beginning of 1408 (john cusack, samuel jackson, etc.). decided not to watch too much at this time of night. i remember getting the crap scared out of me the first time i saw the shining.
