woke up at about 5:30 with a sore knee. left knee was feeling fine. right was stiff and sore. went downstairs and took some aspirin and watched the news and cash in the attic on tv.

worked on the computer for a short while in the morning.
came down to watch the world cup final at about 1:00.

watched the final. seemed a very messy game. 12 yellow cards total. 7 for holland, 5 for spain. spain won 1-0 near the end of the 2nd extra time. i'm happy for the spanish but it was an unsatisfactory match to say the least. espn's coverage was ridiculous. kept going on about how the spanish were the better side. probably true in an esoteric sense but on that pitch on the day it was a fairly equal match and neither team played particularly attractive soccer.
must say that south africa managed the event beautifully. really first class from what i could see.

we watched an episode of st:tng about data. episode called thine own self. solid episode of the series in general. judging against data episodes i'd vote it as one of my fave data episodes. none of that pinocchio crap they are usually hung up on.
after st:tng, we watched poirot on mystery. the david suchet adaptation of probably the most famous poirot mystery murder on the orient express. while the albert finney version of 1974 is a delight it isn't very true to the poirot character. this version was far darker and far more serious. really a great deal of discussion about the nature of justice. really enjoyed it.
