woke up at about 7:00. no sign of power. no sign that any change in the situation was likely. first call to update status seemed to indicate that novec thought the power was back on. called back to leave a comment and found that they had updated the forecast to just after midnight on 2 july.

we went to denny's for breakfast and luckily it was not too crowded

our waitress was named summer.
went over to the aquatic center to check the hours. they didn't open until noon. we were thinking about going over there to shower.
went to walmart. picked up some needed stuff including candles and matches.
did some chores at home. dishes. straightening up. moving some things to the shed. thermometer in the shed read 115 deg f.
decided to spend the night in a motel. everything booked. finally booked a room at the hojo. room available at 3:00. packed for the night and went to warrenton at about 2:00. stopped at subway for lunch.

pretty good. really slow subway but the chow as ok. kept drinking the tea. very thirsty.
checked in at the motel at a little after 3:00. room not ready. "They're working on it." 3:30. room not ready. "They're working on it." 4:00. room not ready. "They're working on it." 4:30. ditto. 5:00. room ready! finally.
watched the end of spain vs. italy in the meantime.
room was more comfortable than i expected. ac maxed out. watched a little tv while elizabeth showered.
e. went to feed the cats while i took a shower.
we met at ruby tuesday for dinner around 8:15.

e. went back to take care of the cats and get them in. i went back to the motel. not feeling too well. felt better when i could stretch out. went to bed around 10:00. very tired.
