a truly miserable day.

woke up at about 7:00. power still off. the house was already getting hot at seven.

we decided to get breakfast at denny's and then make a plan. except ... we couldn't get out of the neighborhood. there was a tree down at the corner of greystone and beverly court so that we could only go about 200 yards from our front door. tres disappointing.

breakfast

bagel w/ butter (untoasted) (blah)
oj
banana
iced tea

house was truly hot but about 10:30. reached over 90 degrees inside. temp. in the frig was above 50 by early afternoon.

managed to mop the kitchen floor and help elizabeth move the book case out of the kitchen.

did some other chores, read, napped through the afternoon.

turkey and cheese sandwich
sun tea

dinner

peanut butter and sugar sandwich
sun tea

cold shower in the evening.

the house cooled off a little after dark. the tree was cleared in the late afternoon but by that time we decided to wait before trying to get out. forecast for restoration late night on saturday but we knew that was a fib. no work had been done to replace the downed utility pole by that time.

went to sleep around 9:30 or 10:00.
