woke up around 6:00. turned on the computer to check the weather report. planning to drive down to williamsburg, see the decorations, and come home.
weather report indicates rain around 4:00 in billsburg but no rain/snow in the evening in warrenton.

leave for billsburg at about 9:00. we hoped to leave at 8:00. oh well.
stopped twice on the way down. at hardee's in falmouth for a bathroom break and a drink. in ashland to get gas, change drivers.
got to williamsburg at about noon. crowded. lucked into a spot in the parking garage. starving at this time. we should have eaten in mechant's square but were tempted by taverns. got seated at king's arms around 1:30.

shared slice of pecan pie w/ peppermint ice cream
mine was excellent except for the polenta. elizabeth had chicken and didn't really enjoy the meal.
left the tavern at 2:30 to find moderate rain outside. i went back to the bookstore. back was aching from the cold and damp. elizabeth went for a walk on dog street. she ended up at the bookstore about 15 min after me because the rain started to come down heavily. we headed back around 3:30 or so. betty drove all the way back. i slept a good part of the way. did not feel well at all.
